What is MDER?
MDER (Melanopic Daylight Efficacy Ratio) measures how much a light source affects your body clock.
Lower is better for sleep.
Daylight has an MDER of 1.0,
Warm LEDs are 0.47, and firelight is ~0.2.

Mode switching
Vitae is a "dumb" bulb. It needs you to switch it off and on again to change modes.
To avoid accidental trigger of any blue containing modes, the bulb resets every 11s so that the next mode switch always turns on the night safe vitae orange.
Technical specification
We keep flicker under 2% and Frequency above 5000Hz
IEEE recommendations go: Flicker below 8% for sensitive applications, and below 3% for bedrooms / reading spaces.
Flicker issues occur in sources <2000Hz
